    ONE YEAR:2 SEMESTER STUDIES
    KLAIPEDA  UNIVERSITY, LITHUANIA

    In co-operation with the International Amateur Theatre Association (AITA/IATA), the North European Amateur Theatre Alliance (NEATA), and the Lithuanian Amateur Theatre Association (LMTS), the Directing Department of Klaipeda University (Lithuania) offers an International  Theatre Directing Course to be held at the University from September 1 through June 1 every year. The academic staff of the Course will be members of the Directing Department and famous artistic directors of Lithuania.
    Instruction language: English.

    THE CONCEPT OF THE COURSE

    The aim of the Theatre Directing Course is to acquaint students with the basics of directing, acting, voice techniques, stage movement, mime, history of directing, and modern drama. During the process of studies, students will acquire experience in directing, as well as in  acting.

    ACADEMIC CALENDAR:

     The Course will be divided into two semesters.
    Fall semester: 16 weeks, from September 1 to December 20.
    Christmas and New Year Holidays: 4 weeks, from December 20 to January 20.
    Spring semester: 16 weeks, from January 20 to May 20.

     

    THE PROGRAM

    Directing: Semesters 1, 2 (16 local/24 ECTS credits)
    Acting (based on the K. Stanislavsky & M.Chekhov method): Semesters 1, 2 (8 local/12 ECTS credits).
    Body Movement: Semester 1 ( 4 local/6 ECTS credits)
    Mime: Semester 2 (4 local/6 ECTS credits)

    Voice Technique    Semester 1 (2 local/3 ECTS credits)
    History of Stage Directing  Semester 2 (2 local/3 ECTS credits)
    Modern Drama  Semester 2 (2 local/3 ECTS credits)
    Lithuanian Language Semester 1 (2 local/3 ECTS credits)

     

    PARTICIPANTS

    The number of participants in the Course is limited to 15. Candidates are to have some experience as actors or directors from amateur or professional theatre productions. Provided the number of applicants is exceeded, candidates shall be admitted in accordance with the main criteria: their experience in theatre. The age is limited to 50.

    PRICE

    The price of the Course: LTL 20, 000 (equivalent to EUR 5. 800) which cover the tuition and administrative services:
    Tuition Fee: Semesters 1, 2 - LTL 18, 000 (equivalent to EUR 5.200)
    Administrative Services: LTL 2,000 (equivalent to EUR 600)
     The price does not include living expenses, travel expenses, expenses for the registration with the Lithuanian immigration authorities, or health insurance.

    PAYMENT CONDITIONS

    Administrative Service fee -  LTL 2,000 (equivalent to EUR 600) &
    Tuition fee – Semester 1, LTL 9.000(equivalent to EUR 2,600)
     to be paid before May 1.  
    Semester 2,  LTL 9.000 (equivalent to EUR 2,600) – to be paid before November 1.

    DEADLINE for Application: March 1.
